Facing Life’s Obstacles
Hope’s Your Superpower
By Marlene Wagner
Everyone has to accept that at times in our lives, life will be filled with negative emotions.
There will be trying circumstances and obstacles that could derail even the best laid plans.
No one sails through life without any difficulties. However, on the other hand, you can’t constantly fear what might come next.
You burden yourself as you dread the worst possible things happening. You can be hopeful when facing new obstacles.
If you have a hopeful heart, it’s easier to breathe and expect a good outcome for your future.
Hope is a critical tool —an unextinguishable flame that helps you cope with any conditions you face. Hope can help you through anything.
It’s the belief that tells you your future may be better and brighter than your past was, and you can play an active role in making that happen.
How do you remain hopeful when you face new obstacles? Here are some ways to help.
Always Approach New Obstacles with Hope
Hope means believing that things will work out right, even if it looks like they might not.
It will help you remain peaceful and calm when you’re faced with brand-new obstacles, and you will get over those obstacles, remembering the times you’ve done so in the past.
Faith, along with hope, allows you to believe in the impossible.
When things are not going well, your emotions intensify and are not in line with who you are. When:
- Your doctor gives you a medical diagnosis
- Your partner has asked for a divorce; they are no longer happy in the marriage.
- You have suddenly and unexpectedly lost a friend or loved one.
- Your business or income has taken a sudden and unexpected downturn.
Any one of these life experiences would bring on a roller coaster of emotions.
As horrific as any of these experiences, as long as you have hope, your thoughts will always gravitate towards optimism.
Unexpected obstacles pop up, but they don’t have to overwhelm or devastate you.
Unexpected obstacles merely test your resolve and reveal your true power.
Your emotional response in times like these is not usually indicative of your true self. Hope can get you past that point.
Starting Small Makes Obstacles Easier to Face
Start small. You don’t want to implement a big challenge all at once. Think of the obstacle’s smaller parts and work with them first.
What’s the first step you need to take, and what is the second step?
If you take on too much at once, you may feel overwhelmed. You’re already dealing with something big and unexpected.
Now is the time to take one step at a time and never give up, feeling hopeful.
We cannot go through life without the unexpected happening.
And when it does, the sooner we can get a grip, develop a way to deal with it, and get through it, the better.
As quickly as you can, look at what options you have available to work your way through the obstacle.
Taking small steps makes each one a little easier to reach and gives a feeling of success.
It makes it easier to stay on track and reach the other side of the obstacle.
Overcoming Obstacles Will Help You Grow
Obstacles can help you appreciate things as they become easier.
They can also present unique opportunities for personal growth and understanding.
Reflect on times when life seemed tough. What did you learn from those experiences?
Obstacles, while challenging, can unexpectedly lighten the load once we’ve navigated through them.
We can better appreciate when life feels less complicated and more manageable.
Obstacles reflect our strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Think of a time you tackled something you thought was impossible.
The satisfaction and knowledge gained from the experience outweighed the initial struggles. These are the times that teach us valuable lessons.
When challenges arise, they touch our core emotions.
Obstacles allow you to connect with your real emotions, express them, and take responsibility for them.
Dealing with these emotions helps us grow emotionally strong and self-aware.
Hope is always our ally when facing challenges and life’s unexpected obstacles. Hope fuels our spirit and builds resilience.
Resilience infused with hope is the springboard for bouncing back from adversity.
By focusing on the resources and strengths available to us, we can face new obstacles with courage and determination.
Imagine the strength within you, ready to take on the next challenge, knowing you have everything you need not only to survive but to thrive.
